Methodist Church South.?The Mississippi
Conference of the Methodist Episcopal
Church, Soutu, recently held its annual session
in Canton, Miss. This bt>dy of Ministers
numbers about eighty. The membership represented
by them is reported at 13,51)3 whiles
and 10,015 blacks. Besides the travelling ministers,
who tompose the Conference, there are
197 local preachers. There has heen an in
crease, as the result of the past year's labor,
of 1,900 members. Six of the travelling preachers
died during the year. Bishop Capers presides.
Ilis health was so infirm that he would
return home from that point, and nut finish his
appointed episcopal tour.
Plank Roai> Dividend.?The Directors of
the Ogeechee Plank Road Company, have declared
a dividend of -St per Share for the past
six months.
MARRIED?In Camden, on the morning
-of the 15ih inst., by Rev. T. R. English,
Capt. John D. Young, and MissSallie K.,
only daughter of Mrs. Sarah J. Johnson,
both of Kershaw District.
On Thursday evening, the 12th inst., by the
Rev. Mr. lloyt, Capt. G. It. Miller, to Miss
Sarena, daughter of H. R. Brown Esq., of
Liberty Hill.
DIED?Of Consumption, near Remington,
Marion county, Fla., oil the 31 of October,
1853, Tii??stA3 C. Berry, (formerly of Ker
shaw District, S. C..) aged 32 years and in t!ie j
hope of life everlasting beyond the grave. For
the last three years of his life he was greatly
afflicted, but in the midst of deep afflict ion
was wont to trust in God and exhort all around
hint to seek the salvation of their souls. IDs
dying moments were spent in prayer and praise.
His last words were, Oh! my dear wife I am
Sit happy, so happy, and died without a struggle
or a groan. He has lett an affectionate
wife, two brothers and one sister, and many
dear friends to innurn his loss.
" Let me die the death of the righteous and
let my last end be like his.
