Commandcr-in Chief in and over the State aforesaid:
WHEREAS, information lias been received at this
Dcnartment. that an atrocious murder was com
mitted on tlic body of JANE I). YOUNG, on the lltli
ult., by a negro man III RAM, the property of L. W
R. Blair, of Kershaw District, and that the said Hiram
lias tied from justice: Now, know ye, that to the end
thab justice may be done, and that the said Hiram may
be brought to legal"trial for his offence as aforesaid, I
Joiix L. Maxnixj, Governor and Commander-in-Chief
in and over the State aforesaid, do issue this mv Proclamation,
offering a reward of Two Hundred and Fifty
Dollars for his apprehension and delivery into any Jail
in this State. Said Hiram is described as being about
5 feet 8 or 10 inches high, thick set, has heivy eyebrows,
small eyes, holds his head far back when walking,
is said to have a scar on the back of one of his
bands, from a burn, with a scar riiriniug through it,
caused by a cut from a knife, and one of his thumbs
split up to the first joint.
