C , pursuant to Special Orders No. 21, dated March -1th, 1S64, and Special Orders No. 24, dated March j 7th. 1S64, from Headquarters, Hilton Head His- i tnct, Hilton Head, S. G'., and of which Captain John M. Tracy, 6th Conn. Vols., is President, in the case of Private Gustav Hoffmann, Co. B, 6th Regt. Coun Vol. Infantry, is hereby annulled?it appearing upon investigation that Private Gustav Hoofan. Co. B, Oth Regt Conn. Vols., was the party tried under the name of Gustav Hoffmann. This is a radical and fatal error, and the inexcusable carelessness upon tl* part of the Judge Advocate, 1st l.ient. John W. Acheson, S5th Regt. P. V.. in recording the proceedings of the Court, and of the t'flurt itself in review ing the sitmc, merits the severest censnre. II. The proceedings, findings, and sentence in the above case'are null and void Private Gustav Hoofan, Co. B, 6th Regt Conn. Vol. Infantry, is released from confinement and restored to duty. THE DESERTER'S FAREWELL. The following is a translation of the letter written by private Henry Schuniaker, the 6th Connecticut deserter, to his father in Germany, on the morning of his execution for desertion.
