A Centennial, Incident.?The Boston Jhrald tells this: "The elay following our centennial festivities, the following inci? dent occurred in a South end saloon: A friend had invited ono of tho South Carolina soldiers into the saloon to put another turf on tho buried hatchet. While standing at tho bar, a stranger came in. The Carolinian suelelenly ilropped his glass anil closely eycel tho tho stranger. His gaze was so steady and peculiar, that the friend began to be alarmed and to fear that the hatchet was about to be dug up again. Directly the Carolinian asked the stranger if he knew him. Thero was no recognition; where? upon the Carolinian asked him if he was not in the lato war. 'Yes,' was the re? ply. 'And you were once stationed at such a placer 'Yes.' 'And took part in such a skirmish?' 'Yes.' ??Well, I thought so,' replied tho Carolinian, anel raising his hat showed a large scar on his forehead, saying, 'There's your sabre mark, my boy; como up and take a drink.'" Three Attainaulf.
