Gen. Sheridan telegraphs that Gapt.
Keyes, of the 10th oavalry, followed
np the Gheyenne trail from Earrey's
creek, on the Wuahita, to tho North*

and captured the band, consisting of
fifty-two Cheyennes, with seventy
ponies. They belong to Medicine
Water's and Medicine Arrow's band.
The Lucknow Witness reports a re?
vival among the Mohammedans of
Lucknow. Deserted mosques have
been repairad, some attempts at street
preaching have been made, and schools
in which their religion is taught have
been opened. The same paper states
that the worship of tho Hindoo god?
dess Durga has been introduced into
the city.
Gen. Pope reports the surrender of
100 more hostile Indiana at Cheyenne
and Araphoe agency to Lieutenant
Colonel Neill.
Mr. J. W. Smith, a planter, living
near Memphis, Tenn., was murdered
by two colored men, who he fonnd
hunting in his field, several days ago.
Mr. W. N. Potter, of New York, haB
been appointed supervising architect
of the Treasury, in place of Mr. Mul
lett.
A prominent New York physician
has been arreBted on a charge of mur?
dering his illegitimate child.

THE Cincinnati Gazette makes the asto?
nishing announcement that Cincinnati
beer is no longer pure, but adulterated with
molasses, sugar of st arch, (usel oil and the
poisonous Colchicum. The Commissioner
of Agriculture, in his report for 1805, says
that Prof. Mape*. of New York, analyzed
the beer from a dozen different bre weries,
aud found all nl it adulterated. Coccnlnc
