cumstances: "In ? a certain London
newspaper offioe, there ia a biography
of the eovoreign, whiob waa written ten
years ago, and the editor, with the
Srovident forethought of bis Class,
eemed it desirable that it should be
revised and brought down to date. It
was given out to one of the staff and
duly 'revised and corrected.' The ed?
itor thought it would bo well to sec
the article in type, and he, conse?
quently, gave it oat to be sot np. A
compositor happened to see the notice
when it was in type, read the solemn
and affecting announcement with which
it opened and immediately proceeded
to disseminate the melancholy intelli?
gence. As soon as the story was fairly
set a-going, it traveled in all directions
and underwent all sorts of modifica?
tions. In one of its forms, it reaohed
a 'London correspondent,' and thus
obtained a wide oironlation all over the
country."_
