BY JULIAN A. SELBY. A Novel Lawsuit.? A novel lawsuit is pending in Kerhonkson, N. Y. In April last. James O. Sohoonmaker made a written contract with Stephen J. Oase, tin ami tb, as follows: If Oase, within three months, would get mar? ried, Sohoonmaker agreed to board him and wife free for six months, and famish them free an eight-dollar-a-day "rig," for three days, to make n wed? ding tonr. If Oase did not got mar? ried within that time, he was to pay double board for six months and $24, the price of the "rig" for three days. The time was up on the 6th of July. Case was not married and Sohoon? maker demanded the terms of the con? tract. Case refused to live up to his agreement and Sohoonmaker sued him. A letter from Mrs. Oatheriue Beech er, published to-day, strongly defends the purity of her brother's character, and she regards the war in this case as a deolared war against womanhood, and as practically to say, let any vile man or woman accuse a lady of the most disgusting crime, and Bhe is sap posed as guilty until she proves her innocence. She applies for protection to her sex. CLOTBfflC m HUTS! No. 124. TDE OLDEST CLOTHING and HAT STAND IN the State, and now the cheapest to get good READY-MADE CLOTHING For Summer. It is a matter of surprise to observe how few understand the dif-1 ference between discount and premium. We often see jiersons adver? tising to sell at 100 per cent, below cost. They really mean fifty per cent. If you purchase an article at fifty cents, and sell for $1, you double your money and mako 100 per cent. If you buy for $1, and sell for fifty cents, yon only loso half, which is fifty per cent.
