New York has still cause, in what
has proved an exceptionally healthy
summer elsewhere, to mourn over an
increased rate of mortality. The week
ending on Saturday, has proved to bo
so far the most fatal of tho year. The
previous week the rate of mortallity
was abnormally high, being equal to
39.50 per 1,000 per annum. Last week
there aro reported 873 deatliB, against
79G for the week ending July 18, and
the rate has risen to the still higher
figure of 43.00 per 1,000 per annum.
That is to say, there have been twice
the number of deaths in New York,
last week, that occur in any moderate?
