Matxison's Hearing Before Judge Moses.?It was stated some days ago that Captain Maltisuo had been takeu from the Greenville jail, under a writ of habeas corpus, aud uarried to New berry, where he had a hearing before Judge Montgomery Moses. The pri? soner was brought before the court ou Thursday evening, aud the case was continued till.Friday eveuiug, iu order to secure the evidence given before tho Coroner's jury at Belton. He was represented by Major Baxter, who made au able effort in his behalf. The prosecuting uttoruey, Mr. Caldwel), acting Solicitor, prosecuted the case with vim aud energy. The court was patient and attentive iu hearing tbe arguments. Iu his remarks, the Judge was oiear in indicating the authority of officers, their privileges and powers, and gave it as bis opinion that officers had no right to take the life of a,man.in attempting to arrest him, when the man was unartnud aud showed no resistance. Major Baxter made a motion to allow tho pri? soner to give bail iu Bicbluud or New berry, which tho Judge positively re? fused. Iu allowing bail iu tho sum of 815,000, tho Clerk of the Court of Au deraou was to approve the security, ?heriff Southern, on Saturday, deli? vered tho prisoner to Sheriff McGnkio, of Andersou, who placed him in j tail. We are informed that Capt. Mattisot. does not bear his troubles with great fortitude. When the killing is alluded to, ho seems to be overcome and is re? lieved by u flood of tears.
