BY JULIAN A. SELBY. The End op the Season.?Congress finally adjourned yesterday, at 6 P. M., to which honr it was found neces? sary to prolong tho session. All the appropriation bills were got through, and it is olaimed tbot over $27,000,000 reduction is made. The most impor-1 taut bill which was passed during the | day was the Utah bill, a measure of doubtful policy, designed to force and precipitate,1 apparently, the solution of a delicate question which had best be left to time and circumstances to ad? just. No man can suppose that natu* pid and brutish imposture hko Alor monism oould long stand in the iuae of advancing civilization, Christianity and general onlightenment. It seemed, indeed, reasonable^ expect that with tho death of Brigham Young, the { whole system,' whiuh has found Hi main support iu his strength of will and personal influence, would fall to pieces and gradually disappear. Tho days of Mormonism were numbered from the moment the Pacifio Railroad nnveiled the seclusion and isolation of the Mormon settlements. The Presi? dent, boa ever, baa on several occa? sions, manifested on impatienoe more charaoteaistio of. the soldier than the statesman, of the anomalous condition of the Territory/of Utah. An unlive "ring" of Gentile officials and specu? lators are also .said to have cast long? ing eyes upon the. goodly inheritance I of the Mormone, and- to have urged the passage of a statute of pains und penalties tor the suppression of Mor? monism, which might open tho door to legal prosecution of-the prosperous "saintB."?Iiallimora Sun, 24*/*. The now bankrupt law just passed by Congress allows forty duya to alapse I before a merohant or trader, who fails to pay his commercial paper, is liable I to be thrown into bankruptcy, aud also requires the assent of ono-fourth in number and one-thud in value ol the creditors to throw a debtor into bankruptcy. Proceedings may be dia-1 oontinned whenever the debtor pays I those secured debts which were the] ground of throwing, him into bank? ruptcy, or whenever, with theoonaeotl of the court, he and a majority of the ' creditors shall ask for a discontinuance I of the prooeediogs. When a loan is made to a.bankrupt in good faith, and security takeu, with the intention of aiding him to pull through, it shall be considered as. having actual value, und theseourity shall not be invalidated by proceedings in bankruptcy. A vo? luntary bankrupt may have his dis? charge if his estate, pays thirty perl cent, of his debts;, or provided boob tains the assent,of the same number of j his creditors as is necessary to throw ! him into bankruptcy. : An involuntary bankrupt can get his disoharge if his conduct is free from all fraud, and he| is innocent jof any violation or in fringment of the bankrupt Aot. Com- J promisoby creditors may be made with the assent of the debtor, provided a] majority, of the creditors join, where approved by tho court, for the release and discharge of the debt.
