South Carolina Monument Associa?
tion.?The monument proposed to be j
erected by the women of South Caro?
lina, in memory of their gallant dead in
the late Confederate war, has been de?
layed in its completion by want of the
necessary funds. The cost of the monu?
ment will be $10.000; the first install
metit'of $5,000 bus been already paid to
the distinguished urohiteote, Muldoon &
Co., of Kentucky, who are proceeding
with the monnment, which, when
finished, will be a uoble and beautiful
tribute to onr deceased soldiers. It ia
requisite that $5,000 shall be raised by
October next, to complete this sum o'f
$10,000. This can be easily obtained, if
eaob District will pledge itself to give
9200, and if every individual who re?
ceives one of these circulars will send
the small sum of $1. Lot a treasurer
and collectors be appointed in overy vil?
lage and city, and let the money collect?
ed by these local treasurers be promptly
forwarded to the General Trensnrcr,
Mrp. \Y. K. Bach man, ut Columbia. If
the ladies in these Districts will give the
matter their earnest attention, we are
eonvinoed that they will soon secure the
amount repuired. Surely none will re?
fuse to aid in oeruetu.itina tho memory
of those who counted uot f.hefr liven)
