The Phxenix is in receipt of a lot of
wedding envelopes, paper, etc., of the
latest Paris and New Xork styles, which
will be printed at reasonable rates. *
Old type?superior to Babbit metal
for many purposes and much cheaper?
can be obtained in any quantity at tho
Phxenix Office.
The Phcenlx job office is complete in
every respect, and cards, posters, pro?
grammes, bill-heads, etc., aro turned
out with alaority. ?
Cash will be tho rule at the Phcenix
offloe hereafter.
Persons indebted to the FuuiNix office
are earnestly requested to call and settle
at once. There is a large amount due?
the greater portion in small sums. The
indebtedness must bo liquidated, or we
shall be forced to resort to extreme mea?
sures.
Transfer printing inks are invaluable
to railroad companies, banks, mer?
chants, manufacturers and others. They
are enduring and ohangeless, and will
oopy sharp and dear for an indefinite
period of time. Having just received a
freBh supply of inks, we are prepared to
exeoute orders at moderate prices.
South Oaboltna Monument Associa?
tion.?The monument proposed to be
erected by the women of South Caro?
lina, in memory of their gallant dead in
the late Confederate war, has been de?
layed in its completion by want of the
necessary funds. The cost of tho monu?
ment will bo $10,000; tbe first install?
ment of $5,000 has been already paid to
the distinguished architects, Muldoon &
Co., of Kentuoky, who are proceeding
with the monument, which, when
finished, will be a noble and beautiful
tribute to our deoeaBed soldiers. It is
requisite that $5,000 shall be raised by
Ootober next, to oompleto this sum of
$10,000. This can be easily obtained, if
eaoh District will pledgo itself to give
$200, and if every individual who re?
ceives one of these circulars will send
the small sum of $1. Let a treasurer
and collectors be appointed in every vil?
lage and city, and let the money collect?
ed by these looal treasurers be promptly
forwarded to# the General Treasurer,
Mrs. W. R. Baohmac, at Columbia. If
the ladies in these Districts will give the
matter their earnest attention, we are
convinced that they will soon secure the
amount repaired. Surely none will re?
fuse to aid in perpetuating tbe memory
of those who counted not their lives
dear that they might save tho land they
loved so well; and though the oansc
they died for be lost, all is not lost, so
long as their grand epitaph, "They died
for their principles," whether engraven
on marble or on tho tablets of our hearts,
shall contain for ua and for future gene?
rations inspiration and hope.
