Sec. 3. if any persou or persons ex? ercise or carry on any trade, business or profession, for tho exercibing, carrying on or doing of which a license i8 re? quired by this ordinance, without first registering aud taking out such license, as in that behalf requited, he, she or tbey, besides being liublc to the pay? ment for tho license, shall bo subject to 0 penalty of not more than $10, ou con? viction before tho Mayor or any court ol competent jurisdiction; one-half of the penalty, after deducting expenses of the prosecution, to bo paid to tho persou who first informs of tho matters und things whereby tho penalty is recover? ed, and the other half to the city. 5Si:c. 4. Iu every licenso to bo taken out, under or by authority of this ordi? nance, shall be contaiued and set forth lue purpose, trade, business or profes? sion for which such licenso is granted, aud the nnmo and place of busiuees ol tho person or persons taking out the some and the timo for which it is grant? ed; if a whrlesale or retail dealer in goods, wares aud1 merchandise, the amount, extent or value of the business inteuded to bo carried on. The City Clerk and Treasurer shall prepare a pro per form of licenso to be issued in each case, aud shall bavo the same printed and bound, in book form, in a neat aud substantial manner, with n proper check or stub attached to each, upon which shall be written, at the timo the license is granted, the name of tho pa?ty obtaining tho same, the length of time covered by said license, together with the amount charged therefor, and the party receiving such licenso shall have the same posted in tome conspicuous place, where his businerss, trade or pro? fession is carried on. Any evasion of the provisions of this section shall, on conviction boforo the Mayor, be puuish able by fine of not exceeding $40. Seo. 5. The licenses grunted under this ordinance shall not authorize the persou or persous, or firm, company or corporation mentioned therein, to exer ciso or carry on tho trudc, business or profession specified in such license in 1 any other place thau that mentioned therein, unless permitted so to do by the Mayor. A licenso granted ou and after January 1, 1874, ?hall couliuuo in force until tho 1st of January following; and all licenses granted after the 1st ot January, A. D 1874, shall be issued upon payment of n rateable portion ol tho whole amouut of money imposed for such liceuses: Provided, however. That uo license shall bo granted for u period less than three months, though the time to the end of the year be lei-s thau that.
