The Strikers Aoain.?A number of colored men assembled in the viciuity of Robb's Mill, now a phosphate work, yesterday, and tried to frighten off the laborers. A special from Fraukfort, Indiana, says: Fletcher Meredith, editor aud proprie? tor of the Clinton Republican Banner. was shot by John F. Douglass, whose wife has a millinery shop up stuirs. Douglass couocalod himself in the loft, when .Meredith entered tho store aud engaged in conversation with Mrs. Douglass. Douglass shot from a bole in the ceiling. The wound is considered dangerous. Douglass is a native of La Grange, Troop County, Gu., where/ho j lived until tho close of the lato civil war. Casualties ?A few days ago, two co? lored men, George Davis aud Amos Love, eight miles from Blackstock, were returning from a hbut, when Love's gnu exploded, killiug Davis. The coroner's jury rendered a verdict of accidental killiug. Love is now in j.iil hero. I The Freedmbn's Savings Bank.?Mr. Nathan Ritter, of Charleston, received a telngram, yesterday, from Actuary Sticknoy, iu Washington, informing him j that the Freed men's Bank loses nothing j by the suspension of Jay Cooke & Co. I and the First National Bunk of Wash? ington. Joseph Campbell jumped from tho Ohio River bridge, a distance of eighty foot, to the bare rock below, and was instantly killed. The cause of the deed [ is not known. A distinguished business man in Hoi* land baa made a ' proposition, now in possession of SenatoifMorton, to bnild a foor track railway from New York to .tome point in Indiana or Ohio, with two tracks thence to St. Louis or Ohi csgo, ths road to be built of bleei rails da the most complete manner. No grants, subsidies or subscriptions are asked; the propoaition exacts only that the road shall be chartered by Congress. The Independent South, speaking for Mississippi, says before the war the pnblio printing in the State cost no more than ?8,000 per annum, yet the proprietors of the Pilot have been paid for doing it during tho last three years, upwards of $288,000, making an average of $96,000 per annum.
