HAVING FUN.-There lives in Amboy,
Oswego County, a man by the name of
John Parks, whoso idea of "having fan"
is novel, to say tho least. About three
weeks since Parks was returning from
the "Centre," accompanied by another |
man, both being in a state well calcu?
lated for fan. As they were opposite the J
pasture of Mr. Kinney, Parks said to his
comrade: "You hold my coat if you
want to see fun." Whereupon Parks got
over the fence into the pasture, and get?
ting down upon "all-fours," proceeded
toward a two-year old bull for the pur?
pose of frightening him. Taurus waited
his approach with a calmness which
Parks thought would terminate in fright,
but he was mistaken. When he had got |
near enough his bullship made a charge
on Parks' sitting-down place, which he
very speedily transformed into some?
thing which resembled a skimmer.

enough to ask Parks why ho was like a I
locomotive?
The first celebrated oitizen of Arkan?
sas was Sandy Faulkner, better known
as the Arkansas Traveler. He still lives,
and is a derk at the Metropolitan Hotel,
Little Book. The following is his last
joke: "Mr. Faulkner," said I, "what!
kind of State Government have you got
now?" "Well, sir," said the Arkansas
Traveler, "I reckon wo are cursed with
the damnedest passel of thieves and
trash ever sent out from oblivion to Ar
kansaw. They just govern hero with a |
high hand, and, if our lives are our own,
our money ain't."
