MERLE D'AUBIONB.-A deBpatoh from Gouevft, Switzerland, announces the death in that city of Rev. Jean Houri Merle d'Aubigue, aged seventy-eight years, author of tho "History of the Reformation in the XVI Century" and other works. M. d'Aubiguo was boin at j Geneva, AuguBt 16, 1794. The New York World publishes a sen? sation story about the manufacture of J diamonds at a foundery in Brooklyn by a combination of various chemicals. The author of the story says 1,000 pounds of diamonds have been made, and half of them have been sold for $24,000,000. An ex-Ooufederato captain lins married a $2,000,000 widow in Washington City, and excited the envy of numerous dis? appointed aspirants.
