Now that the leaves are beginning to
assume their autumnal tints, the ques?
tion as to the best method of preserving
them is in order. It is only of late years
that the oolleotion of leaves attraoted
much attention, but it is a matter of
business no less thau pleasure. The
fanoy goods shops of the larger oities are
each fall supplied with the rarest speci?
mens, and boxes of thom are, each year,
shipped to Europe by tradesmen. The |
prooeas of preservation is very simple.
A few thick blotting pads, some sheets
of drawing paper, a camel's hair brush,
and some amber varnish, are nil the
necessary appliances save a thick book
to press the leaves between the blotting
pads so as to extract the moisture before
they are varnished and placed upon
paper.
An extensive toy dealer in Boston has
just had a doll opening, which was large?
ly attended by the young folk.
