1. The failure of oertaiu agents to make re?
turns in time for the drawing to take placo
September 28.
2. The accumulation of orders-during the
last tew daye to euoh an extent that it was not
possible to fiU them and have the drawing on
the 28th.
3. The general expressed desire of tioket
holders that a full drawing might be had,
even if it made a short postponement neces?
sary.
4. The belief of the management that by a
short postponement the remnant of unsold (
tiokets can bo disposed of, and all the prizes '
paid In full, without the necean i ty of any pro 1
rata scaling down.
For tnoso reasons, coupled with the earnest
desire to bonefit the Publia Library by a larger
balanoe, and the tioket-holdera by larger gifts,

into the wheel. After the drawing is over,
the wheel, with its contents, will be placed in
the hands of a committee on the part of the
tioket-holders, to satisfy themselves whether
all the tickets sold were represented in tho
drawing.
Blind children, in full view of the audienoo
will alternately draw the tags from one of tho
glass wheels and the girts belonging to them
from the other, and the official reoord of the
drawing thus conducted will be kent by three
tellers ohoaen from different banka in tbecity.
The drawing will be published in the Louis?
ville papers and New York Herald, and official
copies malled to all parties out of Louisville
to whom tiokets have been sent by letter.
The remnants of tiokets yet unsold will be
furnished to those who first apply for them,
and as general a distribution of them will be
made among agents as their limited number
will permit. No agent will be permitted, on
any account whatever, to hold or sell a ticket
for tbe management arter the 25th or Novem?
ber. 1872.
This postponement has been made by ad?
vice of the Trust oes, with tho sole object of
the real benefit of both the ticket-holder and
the Pnblio Library, and all concerned may
rest perfeotly assured that the positive and
