That portion of the German oitizeos
who are in favor of reform and an honest
Government are about to hold a Greeley
and Brown Gonvention and a festival,
commencing next Sonday, at the City j
Gardens. Being desiroos that their |
countrymen in the interior should join
them, they have sent out about 2,500 in?
vitations through the post office in this
city. Failing to receive responses, after
waiting the proper time, several gentle?
men were sent ont to ascertain the cause,
when the fact became apparent that out
of the 2,500 invitations mailed hardly
fifty arrived at their destination, and the
fact stares us in the face that they must
have been withheld at the post offioe in [
this city.

South Carolina Monument Association,
encouraged by the success of the bazaar,
last year, and yielding to the urgent
request of a great number of persons,
take pleasure in announcing that they
will open a "monument restaurant" at
the fair grounds, on the first day of the
fair, and will not close their sales until
after the distribution of prizes. This
restaurant is entirely nnder the control
of the Board of Directors of the associa?
tion, and the Executive Committee is I
appointed from their nnmber. Lauches
will be served from ll A. M. till 4 P. M.
