The causo of thin unfortunate condi? tion of affairs in our party, is due to the fact that the members of the "regular Convention" have, in disregard of their solemn pledges to tho people to secure for them an honest government, again prncticed deception upon them, by put? ting in nomination for tho most impor taut offices in our gift, meu over whose heads now hangs gravo charges of un? pardonable o fficial misconduct-they being principals in, or accessory to, the crimes which is the cause of all of the financial embarrassment of tho State, and the grievous burdens under which we aro now groaning. And thia disgraceful deception impera? tively demanded that conscientious Re? publicans, ia order to consult the inte? rest of the people in their choice of can? didates, should withdraw therefrom with a view to the attainment of that end; whioh being done, after due deliberation they nominated a State ticket, which ie synonymous with that honest govern? ment whioh is now demanded by tho people, and at tho bend of which is the namo of Hon. Reuben Tomlinson, who is the standard-bearer of the "truo Re? publican party." And in asking your undivided support for this ticket, we re? commend to you the nominees thereon as Republicans who stand pledged, by their honorable lives and otherwise, by their past official record, as faithful pub lio servante, to subserve tho interest of tho whole people. There aro no disgraceful charges against our candidates, and we need no criminal lawyers to defend them on the stump; while their known integrity and honor is sufficient argument DgainBt all of the groundless, and, therefore, fool calum? nies invented by the Columbia "ring" for tbe sake of detraction, and tho ac? complishment of their purposes. On the other hand, the legal profession ol some of the candidates of the Moses faction is to defend criminals, and theil own frequent crimes requiring absolu? tion have added to their proficiency in the art; and if tho empty eloquence and loud declamations be accepted from Qen. Moses OB being sufficient to ex? onerate him from his misdemeanors in office, then the no less strong nnd plausible language of Scott, Parker, Chamberlain, Nougle, and tho "ring' generally, entitles them to the charity, and under which circumstance they arc all as innocent and pure as "spirits bright," ia the face of the faot that the civilized world ia cognizant of tba con? dition of affairs which they have inaugu? rated in our State for their incidental benefit, and the miseries and mortifica tion to which their dishonesty have sub jeeted th*, people. None, therefore, ot their ad lier en ts, have been so bold une inconsistent as to stultify themselves bj claiming honesty for their candidates while the virtue of the true Republics! ticket is our chjef incentive und thi axle of our movement. The ring candi dates, therefore, rely on tho making o delusive promises; but they are decidedb the sumo which we have always got ii abundance, in lien of tho honest dis charge of their official duties, and th< same which have been mudo to us thou sands of times before, and as mau; times been broken. Some of the reusons given for support ing the Scott-Moses ring are that Moue is a native South Carolinian, ko. W would reply to this argument by saying that this State being also the pince o our nativity, we admit that we are some what partial to this species of Know Nothiugisth; yet, in the present enioi gunoy, when stern necessity stares us i the fuco and points iu an opposite diree tion for our remedy, State pride loses it dmr ms, becomes to be of minor import ance, and we caunot cherish it; for deai bought experience bas taught us thc corrupt native-B will not furnish the rt quired remedy for tho stubborn diseae of which vre are now complaining. An if tho blessing of good government ca bo seanred through the sterling iutegrit of a native of a sister Stute, oommo reason, as well as our common necessity demands his support by all who are tire of the present mal-administration. Again, the most potent reason give for supporting the said ring is that the aro supporting the "regular nominees! Now, follow-oitizeuB, it is a well-estal lished fact that the Democrats, who ai tho only element entertaining opposr political opinion to our own, have le the Hold to na, us far as Stute offices concerned, in order (they contend) I allow ns an opportunity to reform exia ing abuses. A deviation from pari rules is an error never indulged in I the rural Republicans of Charle.-.ti County, as long us those rules be in tl bounds of justice noel reason. Bi when "wolves in sheep's clothing" da to loso sight of our welfare, and ignoro our dearest interest, it becom our indispensable duty, as well as 01 privilege, to oxerciso our owu disorctio and resort to the ballot-box, where we can and will teaoh any politioal body that we are tired of deception; and neither will we submit to more indigni? ties nor longer tolorate impositions. The dernier resort of the "ring" is the raising of the cry that "the true Repub? licans have sold out to the Democrats." The falseness which this device bears on its face renders it tho most impotent one to which they could have resorted, and therefore needs no argumeut for its refutation. Tho ory was raieed "Ad cap tandum vulgus," and to deceive tho unwury; it simply verities the adago which says that "a drowning mun will catch at straws." We, therefore, call upon all good citi? zens of Charleston County, aud espe? cially those of tho rural parts thereof, to rise in their majesty on tho third Wed ma.lay in October, and put their soal of condemnation on corruption by the election of tho true Republican ticket.
