city limits, is 149, of which 108 were
mules and 41 females-68 whites and 81
colored.
The following report shows the vari?
ous grades of crime and offences for
which persons were arrested and dealt
with according to law, to wit: Disorder?
ly, 4; disturbance, 43; using profano lan?
guage, 14; drunk, 19; interfering with
police, 2; riot, 2; shooting pistol in city,
4; horse on sale-walk, 1; grand larceny,
9; petit larceny, 10; vagrancy, 4; threat?
ening to shoot, 1; using city water, 1;
driving in brick drain, 4; driving on
side walk, 1; keeping a gambling house,
1; gambling, 1; keeping a disorderly
house, 2; visiting a disorderly house, 23;
robbery, 1; violation of Sunday ordi?
nance, 1; selling without a license, 1.
Tho following disposition was made of
persons arrested during the month of
July: 12 served their time at work, of
which they worked 70 days, 90 were dis?
charged, 15 to Trial Justice, and 5 were
turned over to parents for correction by
his Honor the Mayor.
The following statement shows the
amount of fines collected from prisoners
arrested by the Police Department for
the month of July, to wit: Total amount
assessed, $108; total amount collected,
?60.
In conclusion, I would say that the
members of the police force huve been
diligent in the performance of their
duties for the post month. Their health
has been uniformly good.
