A BELLE'S DIARY.-Looking over a magazine which we had just borrowed from a young lady, remarkable for good looks and the art of making them tell, a few sheets of note paper dropped out, containing some closely written lines. Impelled by a mean spirit of curiosity, we read them. They were literally "leaves from a diary." Here are a few extracts: MONDAY.-Awful headache. Wonder if Helen calla to-day. I looked down and twisted my elbow. It always make me blush, that twist. They say he is ri*h( fiot w^s born a fool. So much the better for the woman that gets him. Hope she'll make him out his nails. Sang "Love Not" for him, and he grinned as sentimentally aa bub's set? ter when I tantalize him with a line. He asked me to see "Under the Gas-light" with him. I pat him off, and will go if Blinks does not ask me. Squeezed my hand at the door. What a Muggins! WEDNESDAY.-Old Mrs. Satehel wanted me to go on a oharity trip with her and carry a cold meat and crust basket. Says she heard of my exertions at the calico ball, and wants me now to visit a shirt? maker, down with the fever. The old fool can't see the distinction between an affair like the "past event" and poking about in a nasty garret. Told her I had neuralgia. Know she'll tell everybody I am suoh a' sweet girl. This concludes the diary, or at least the portion of it that reached our hands. It is only a glimpse into a familiar sub? ject-the vagaries of the female mind. WHEREAS, by aa Aot of the Qoneral As? sembly, approved March 9,1872, enti? tled "An Aot to provide for the construction of a new Court House, in and for the County of Richland," the County Commissioners of Riohland County aro authorized and empow? ered to sell and convey the whole of that lot ia ? he city ot Columbia, on the corner of Ri? chardson and Washington streete, whereon waa formerly situated tho Court House of said County; And whereas, by concurrent resolution paaaed December 20,1821, certain members of the Rar in the town of Columbia wero au? thorized to erect a range ot fire-proof brick offices, in the Court House square thereof, under the following provision: "That no? thing in this resolution shall preoludo the State at any time from taking possession of the land upon whioh the said buildings are proposed to be erected, upon paying to the person or persons interested m, or owning tho same, the value of the said offices, to be estimated by six flt and proper persona, three of whom ahall bo ohosen uv the State, and the otbor three by tho persona interested in the aaid offleee at tho time of tho ?aid val? uation; and in oaae they differ, that they have power to call in a seventh person: and that the said estimate, when made, be final;" Now, therefore, be it known that I, RO?
