GRANT AND THE DEAD HERO.-The
cold indifference of President Grant to
the remaius of General Anderson is tho
snbjeot of much severo comment by the
Northern press. Do was iu New York
on the same day when the peoplo turned
out iu immense numbers to pay the last
tribute to the departed hero, aud took
not the slightest uotico of tho solomn
ceremonies. Ho was neither present in
person nor by his representative. Simi

ragut. But, if possible, worse than all
this, the New York correspondent of the
Cincinnati Enquirer writes under date
of the 4th instant:
Grant's newspapers carefully explain
that General Anderson's family desired
