direction. Stokes, tho assassin of Fisk,

The United States census, when com?
pleted, will till three volumes of thc size
of Webster's Unabridged Dictionary.

found a subject upon whicli they eau in?
cubate with comfort for somo time to
come. It is a hen's egg, within which a
brass button has been found. Tho co
nundrum is, how came it there, and
what would have been tho result had
this particular egg been subject to the
hen's own incubation for twenty-one
days? The Illinois sages have not got
to the bottom of the subjeot yet.
