thing, of late years. If they-perhaps
wo ought to say tho maeonliuo portion
of them-have thus far been rather tardy
in recognizing the fitness of the gentler
sex to voto and hold office, it is uot for
tho reason that the subject hus not boen
sufficiently pressed upon thom. It may,
perhaps, bo owing to the inborn obsti?
nacy and natural porvcrscuoss of tho
masouliuo heart; but, howevor that may
bo, tho fact is incontrovertible, that tho
Sorosis has furnished line on lino and
precept on rireoept with very little appa?
rent effect. Only the other day thc sub?
ject was brought to the attention of our
own .Legislature, through a communica?
tion from Mrs. Lucy Stone; und, though
Speaker McCreary selected Representa?
tive Varnon, and other Representatives
noted for their gallantry, ns a special

have a very Btrong suspicion that this
will sharo the usual fato of such applica?

oming have complied with the sister?
hood's demand, but ns for Congress and
the Stato Legislatures, they have, os

most urgent and unremitting solicita?
