A man has just tnrned np at Albany,
N. Y., aa being the possessor of six
wives. He ia a tailor and a regular
tramp. He goes from place to placo,
tarrying not long anywhere, and marries
one or two women wherever he goes.
He is now a guest of the sheriff, and so
far only six of his matrimonial victims
have reported. They hail from all parts
of the compass-North, East, West and
South.
In a Wisconsin town, reoently, a
stranger called at the bank and request?
ed to see a note held against him. Re?
ceiving the Blip he remarked that he
could not read without his spectacles,
and walked toward the door, when it was
diBoovered that he was energetically
chewing up the note. The fragments
were forced from his mouth by a vigor?
ous ohoking. .
A REMEDY FOR WHOOPING COUGH.
The "whoop" of children is heard at
every oorner in Knoxville. A medical
journal states that five or B?X visits, of
about fifteen minutes' dnration eaoh, to
the purifying room of the gas works,
will certainly ouro the most obstinate
caso of whooping cough. The sugges?
tion is worth a trial.-Press and Herald.
A veteran observer says: "I never
place much reliance on a man who is al?
ways telling what he would have done
had he been there. I have noticed that
somehow this kind of people never get
there."
A Michigan Indian was promptly es?
corted to the happy hunting grounds
by a can of nitro-glycerine, which he en?
deavored to open with his little hatohet.
