C. McClelland, Joshua D. Geddings, Nathan Bitter, J. J. Knox, Lawrence- S. Mills, Wm. Miles, Samuel Marion and Wm. Williamson, Trastees of the church formerly known as "Si? loam," now as Wallingford Presbyterian Chu roh and Academy, by petition there? from, have prayed to be incorporated : SECTION l.-?e it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, novo met and silting in General Assembly, and by the authority ot the same, That from and immediately after the passing of this Aot, all those persons who now ore, or who hereafter shall or may become, members of the said Society, shall be, and they are hereby, incorporated, and are hereby declared to be a body corporate in deed and in law, by tho name and style of the Wallingford Presbyterian Church and Academy, of Charleston, S. G., for thc advancement of Christianity, and by the said name shall have perpetual succes? sion of officers and members, and t oommon seal, with power to change, alter and make new the same as often af the said corporation shall judge oxpc dient. SEO. 2. That the said oorporatioi shall be capable in law to purchase, have hold, receive, enjoy, possess and retail to itself, in perpetuity, or for any tern of years, any lands, tenements or heredi turnouts, or other property of what na tare soever, not exceeding tho sum o two hundred thousand dollars, or to sel or alien the same, as tho said corpora tors Bhall think fit, and by its said nam to sae and bo sued, plead and be im pleaded, answer and be answered unto in any court of law or equity iu thi State, and to make snob rules and bj laws (not repugnant to tho laws of th land) ns for the order, rule, good govert ment and management thereof may b thought necessary and expedient: Prc Tided, That nothing contained herei shall be construed to interfere with tb prerogatives, control and direction c tho General Assembly of the Presbyti rian Chnrch in tho United States c America over the institution aforesaid. SEC. 3. That this Act shall be deeme a public Aot, and shall continue in fort until repealed, and as suoh Bhall be jud dally noticed in all oourts of this Stab Approved February 15, 1872. AN ACT TO ESTABLISH A PUBLIC BOAD 1 BABNWELL AND ORANGEBURG COUNTIES. SECTION 1. Be il enacted by the Sene und House cf Representatives of the Ste of South Carolina, now met and sitting General Assembly, and by the authority the same, That J. D. Oleokly, F. E. Sa nus, Isaac S. Bamburge and Dani Qaattlebaum, be, and they aro hereb authorized and empowered, immediate after the passage of this Act, to lay oe construot and open a public road, len ing by the West and North (direct wa from Bamberg, in Barnwell County, Fogle's Mill, on tho Orangeburg Koa in Orangeburg County. SEC. 2. That in the construction said road, the Commissioners af?rese shall causo to be constructed and ereet such bridges as they may deem necesi ry: Provided, however, The cost of ere ing such bridges shall not exceed t sum of four hundred dollars, to be pa % equally, by tho said Counties of Bai well and Orangeburg. SEC. 3. That said Commissioners further authorized and required to ort out all persons liable to road duty res ing within fivo miles of the line of s. road, as located, (excepting thoso livi in incorporated towns,) to perform th days' work, in each month, on said ro until its completion. Approved February 15, 1872. AN ACT TO INCORPORATE THE CIIERAW FIRE ENGINE COMPANY AS A FART OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE TOWN OF CHERAW. SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, now met and sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That Theodore F. Malloy, Thomas W. Bouchier, James A. Mc Creight and W. L. Reid, and their suc? cessors in office, be, and they are hereby, constituted a body corporate and politio, under the name and stylo of the "Che raw Fire Engine Company," with a capi? tal stock not exceeding the sum of five thousand dollars, with the right to sae and be sued, to plead and be impleaded, in any court of competent jurisdiction ; lo have and to use a common seal, and the same to alter at will and pleasure; and with all other rights, privileges and immunities that aro now seenred by law to like incorporate bodies.
