Muii??M is PABVO.-The ^following twelve paragraphs from an old horticul? tural publication, are worthy of a plaoe amongst the most valued roles that should govern a well regulated home: 1. When fruit trees occupy the ground, nothing else should-except very short grass. 2. Fruitfulness and growth of the tree cannot be expected the same year. 3. There is no plum that the ouronlio will not take, though any kind may sometimes escape for one year in one place. 4. ' Peaoh borers will not do much da? mage when stiff hay is heaped up round the tree a foot high. 5. Pear blight still puzzles the great? est men. The best remedy known is to plant two for every one that dies. C. If you don't know bow to proue, don't hire a man from the other side of the Bea, who knows less than you. 7. Don't out off a big lower limb unless you are a renter and don't care what be? comes of it when your time is out. 8. A tree with tho limbs coming out near the ground is worth four trees trimmed up ten feet, and so on until they are not worth anything. 9. Trim down, not up. 10. Shorten in, not lengthen out. 11. If you had your arm out off, yon wonld feel it at your heart-a tree will not feel, but rot to the heart. 12. When anybody tells you of a gar? dener that understands all abont horti? culture and agriculture, and that can be hired, don't believe a word of it, for there are no euch to be hired. Suoh a man can make more than you can afford to give him, and if he has sense enongh to understand the business, he will also have enongh to know this. - liiva INSURANCE AND SUICIDE.-A ver? dict has been given in tho Supremo Gourt against tho Knickerbocker Life Insurance Company in a suit turning upon the question of suicide. The plaintiff was tho widow of a man who had shot himself, and tho amount of the insurance policy was $10,001). Payment having been resisted on the ground that the policy contained a clause free? ing the company from responsibility in case the party insured should "die by his own hands, saue or insane," the old question came up ngain, with the usual result. The verdict is for the full amount named in the policy, with interest added. Repeated verdicts of this character against the life insurance companies establish so many precedents that it is evidently useless to oontinne tho process of litigation. It would'be better to ex? punge the oustomary anti-suicide olause of the policies, than to incur defeat in law snits, and pay costs besides. Juries seem to be readily eonvinced that the biers of a suicide are entitled to the policy which he kept op by regular pay? ment of premiums to a life insurance company. THE OUTLOOK.-Tho prospects of the opening campaign in New Hamsphire are certainly brightening for the Demooraoy, and they may well enter upon it with encouragement of assured success if they but do their duty. From every part of tho State the indications are that tho Democrats are awake and determined to lose uo ground in New Hampshire this year. Hero is to be won the initial bat? tle in the great contest for reform throughout tho whole Union in the coming year, and let evory patriotic Deinoorat take bold, not only with con? fidence and courage, bat with deter? mined and vigilant effort to do his sbaro in the great work which all the best interests of the country so urgently de? mand.-Cheshire Republican.
