the back room, and seeing a saddle that
suited him, asked the price. Monkey
said nothing. Customer said: "I'llgive

which the monkey shoved into tho
drawer. The man then took the saddle,
'bot monkey mounted him, tore bis hair,
? scratched his. faoe, and made the fright?
ened rosti? scream for dear ..Ufa. Pro?
prietor rushed iii and wanted to know
what the foss was. "Foss?'' said the'
customer, "fuss? I bought a saddle of
your sou, sitting, there? and when I went
. to take it, he would not let me bare it." 1
The saddler apologized for the monkey,
but denied the rej&tionohip.
. .Thenew lady's hat, just brought oat
in Paris,, it called the casserole, being ex?
actly pf the shape of a copper saucepan,
or something like the helmet worn by
the Knight Templars of old. The hat
has not the smallest symptom of brim,
and the crown is ornamented tp the very
summit with alternate bands of velvet
and satin. A tulle aigrette is placed
in front, and adds to the fierce aspect of
: the whole.
