Boira Q?KxB BROTBH CLAIMS,-It is understood that among tb? interesting oases to be brought bet?re the British - American Claims Commission, are the claims of five1 British blockade-runners captured during the late war by the chartered transport steamers Fulton and Arago, ot the New York and. Havre Steamship Company's' line, in which Isaac Bell and Leonard W. Jerome, of New York city, are understood to have been the largest stockholders. The two steamers, with their officers and orew, were chartered by the quartermaster's department to rnn between New York and Hilton Head, and, being armed by the : Government, captured the five blockaders above referred to du their different voyages. ' The vessels were taken into port and libelled in the prize courts of the United States. Being con? demned, tbs vessels, and cargoes were sold, and'the net proceeds ordored to be distributed in tho usual manner. . , By some means the company got the moiety on each vessel that by law is* set apart for the Government, and fearful that the United States might attempt to regain it on the ground that by hiring the veosels, orew and appurtenances, arming them and assuming the war risks, the Fulton and Arago were national ves? sels to ail intents and purposes, and the United States entitled to the prize money, the money was hastily divided and the company dissolved. Aa the United States has never taken any action indi? cating ita recognition of any right in it? self to the prize money, and as the ves? sels, in their private capacity, had no authority to make captures, it is olaimed that their proceedings against the Bri? tish vessels were simply piratioal, and afford a legal basia of reclamation against the American Government under the treaty of Washington. A new trail haa been made from Yose? mite Valley np to the top of 1 Glaoier Point, which is 4,000 feet above the valley, and from which may be had views which are incomparably the finest in the region.
