SECTION 1. De it enacted by the Senate and House of Repr?sentatives of the State of South Carolina, now met and sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That every con voy anco of real estate, within this State, sod hereafter made, shall, within three days, be re? corded in the office of the Clerk of the . Uonnty in which snoh real estate shall be situated,?except in the County of Charles ton, where all such conveyances shall be recorded, within the same time, in the - offioo of the Begister of Mesne Convey? ance; and where suoh conveyance, not so recorded, shall bo void, as against any subsequent purchases in good faith and for a valuable consideration, ot the same real estato, or any portion thereof: Pro? vided, Such 8nb8eqnent purchaser Bhall have ii rat recorded his said conveyance. SEO. 2. Different seta of books shall be provided by the Clerks of the several Counties, for tho recording ot deeds and mortgages, in one of whieh Bets all oon? veyanoes, absolute in their terms and not intended os mortgages, or os sureties ia the nature of mortgages, shall be re? corded, and in the other set all snob mortgages, or sureties in the nature of mortgages, shall be recorded. Whereas tho County Commissiouoi Oconee County, in tho exorciso of tl discretion, obnngod tho locution of jail for said County, and exchanged Jot ceded to the State for the pnrpos erecting a jail for tho one on which jail now stands; and wuerons tho pai with whom the exchange- was made have sold the said lot to Joseph J. Norton, and the said Commissioners have execut? ed titles to bim; now, therefore, Be il enacted by Ilia Se?ale and House of Representatives of the State of South Caro? lina, now met and silting in General Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That the action of the County Commissioners aforesaid be, and the same is hereby, validated, and the title of the State to the said lot convoyed to and confirmed in the said Joseph J.
