The financial transactions carried on
*in New York by "agents" on behalf of

. people there. According to the Atlanta,

'firm of Henry Clews & Co. announced
themselves *'agents" for the State to sell
its bonds. Lately 'State Treasurer
Angi?r wrote Clews A Co., requesting an
account of their operations, and that
firm replies 'that the Fohrth National
Bank of New York is the financial agent
of Georgia, and 'adds: "Our firm has
never held that appoiutmoot,"
The Chairman of the Chicago Relief
Aid Society ' makes a further appeal for
aid fdr the sufferers: . He says that they
are now cariog for over 40,000 people,
. with a very small stock of vegetables on
band, and yery little coming in. ..
