low the Arlington House, he got out of
the carriage, placed his gun nuder his
chin, and fired. Being a small man, the
effort to pull the trigger caused his head
to move, and his.faoe only was injured.
In desperation, he repeated the experi?
ment, with tho same result. The driver,
who, meantime, rushed to him, oaught
bim, fainting and bleeding, in his arma,
and brought him to the Arcade Hotel,
Whence he was taken home.
