BBMEDT FOR SCALDS AND BOUNS.-A
correspondent writes to inform us that |
the readiest and most useful remedy for
Hoalds and burns is an embrocation of
lime water and linseed oil. Those sim- ?
pie agents combined form a thick,
cream-like snbstanoe, which effectually
excludes tho air from the injured parts
and allays the inflammation almost iu
Btantly. He mentions a case where a1
ohild fell backward into a bath-tub of
boiling water and was nearly flayed
from, her neck to below her hips. Her
agonies were indescribable; but her
clothing being gently removed, and the
lime and oil preparation thickly spread
over the injured surface, she was sound
asleep in five minutes. Subsequently
the patts were carefully washed with
warm milk and water three times a day,
the oil dressing renewed, and the little
patient rapidly recovered. Thongh all
the scalded skin came off, she did not
have a soar. This remedy leaves no
hard, coat to dry on tho sores, bot softens
the parts and aids natnre to repair the
injury in the readiest and moat expedi?
tious manner. ' The ' mixture' may bb
procured iu tho drug stores; but, jf not
thus -accessible, slack a lump of quick?
lime in water, and, as soon as the waler
is clear, mix it with the oil and ?hake
well. If tho case is urgent, use boiling
water over the lime, and it will be olear
in five minutes. The preparation may
be kept ready bottled in the house, and
it will be as good when six mon thu old
