morning, a fire was discovered in tho
roar of Mr. >W. Bissell's hardware etore,
Meeting street, opposite the Charleston
Hotel. Nearly ?bree-quarters o?"' au
hour had elapsed before a general, alarm
was given by the bells. Tho stock was
covered by an insurance of $16,000.
The building in whioh the fire originated
and the one adjoining it-both badly
burnt-belonged to tho estate of "Henry
Strohecker, and wore.insmed. The two
buildings wero still burning at the hour
wo went to press, but ibis thought that the
fire will not go beyond them, as a thick
wall intervenes between the second
