The first and most important step is for tho patient to avoid taking cold, and tho best of all places on this continent for this purpose in winter, is Florida, woll down in the State, where tho temp?rature is regular, and not subject to such variations as in more Northern latitudes. Palatka is a point I can recommend. A good hotel ia kept thoro by Petorman. Last win tor I saw several persons there whoso lungs had been badly discasod, but who, under thu healing influenco of thc climate and my medi? cines, woro getting well. I should give a decided pre? ference to Mellonvillo. lt is two milca from river or lake, and it neoraa almost impossible to take enid there. Tho tables in Florida might bc better, and patients complain at times, but that is a good sign, as it indicates a return of appetite, and when this is the caso they generally increase in flesh, and then tho lungs must heal. Jacksonville, Hibernia, Green Cove, and many other places in various parts of Florida, cnn i)c safely recommended to consumptives in winter. My reasons for saying so aro that patients afo lesB liablo to tako cold there than where thero is a leas even tcmpcraluro, and it is not ncccsaaiy to say that whero a consump? tive person exposes himself to frequent colds, lio is certain to clio shortly. Therefore my advico ?H, go well down into tho State, out of tho reach of prevailing East winds and fogs. Jacksonville, or almost any other of tho lo? calities I havo named, will benefit those who aro troubled with a torpid liver, a diBordcrcd stomach, deranged bowels, soro throat or cough, but for thoso whoso lungs aro diseased a moro Southern point is earnestly recom? mended. My advico to persons whoae limpia ar affected even slightly is, to lay in a stock c Schenck'a Pulmonic Syrup, Schonck's Scawce Tonic and Schonck's "Mandrake Pills and g to Florida. I recommend these part?cula medicines because I am thoroughly acquaint cd with their action. I know that where thc aro used in strict accordance with my direc tions, they will do tho work that ia requirct This accomplished, naturo will do tho rcs! Tho physician who prescribes for cold, coup or night-sweats, and then advises thc paticn to walk or ride out every day, will bo sure t havo a lornfio on bia bauds before long. My plan is to give my threo medicines, i accordance with tho printed directions, el cept in some eases whero a freer use of th Mandrake Pills is necessary. My object is t give tone to tho stomach-to get up a goo appetite lt is always a good sign when patient begins to grow hungry. I havo hopt of such. With a relish for food and tit gratification of that rolish comes goodbloo< and with it moro flesh, which is closely fo lowed by a healing of the lunge. Then th cough loosens and abates, tho creeping chit and clammy night-eweate no longer prostral and annoy, and the patient gets well, provi< ed ho avoids taking cold. Now thore arc many consumptives who ha\ not the means to go to Florida. Thequestic may bo asked, is there no hope for suet Certainly there ie. My advice to such is, ar over has beon, to stay in a warm room duri 1 tho winter, with a temperature of aboi seventy degrees, which should be ko] regularly at that point, by means of a the mometer. Lot such a patient tako his e erciso within tho limits of tho room by wal ing up and down as much as his strength wi permit, in order to keep up a healthy circu? tion of the blood. I have cured thousan< by this system, and can do so again. Co: sumption is as easily cured as any otb discaso, if takon in time, and the proper kir of treatment is pursued.
