along the whole line. Gen. Janerezl
berry, who eommanded the right wing,

left aud centre, fought desperately for
six hours. Tho French "maintained
most of their positions. The Prussian
forces engaged are estimated at 180,000.
The extent of the French loss is un?
known, but is serious.
