Attorney-General Akerman was this
child. He kept a sleepless eye over the

THE NEW COIN NOTES -Tho new issue
of coin notes proposed from tho Trea?
sury is to be ornamented with a new
back composed of n beautiful grouping
of the gold coins of tho United States,
so displayed as to expose both surfaces
of each coin. Tho various coins bavo
been photographed and arranged in the
proper form to he seut lo the engraver,
and will, when completed, make au ele?
gant and appropriate fiuish to the backs
of the new notes.
"Widows are estimated by tho equate
milo in New Hampshire. Twenty to the
mile is thought a good ratio." The
Boston Advertiser says tb ut, but it seems
to be hardly doing justice to the widows.
It has usually been admitted that a Miss
is as good as a milo, and thu widows may
well object to beiug eouuted twenty for
one.
The iron rails that already reach to the
Pacifie will be extended in no long pe?
riod to Alaska itself, and n tunnel under
Behring's Straits, connecting the oldest
with the newest continent, and forming
part of an unbroken railroad from Now
York to St. Petersburg, may be among
the possibilities of the future.

Ono hundred miles further down the river
is a point which I would prefer io Palatka, as
the temperature is more even and tho air dry
and bracing. Mellonvillo and Enterprise ure
located there. I should give a decided pre?
ference to Mellonvillo. Il is two miles from
river or lake, aud it BCCTua almost impossible
lo take cold there. Tho tables in Florida
I might bo better, and patients complain ?I
