dreamed for several nights in succession,

special attention to the dreams, but did

Thursday afternoon abu was sitting by
her fire, smoking, when the dream oc?
curred to. ber mind, and she determined
tp, search for tb o treasure. Takiug np
several loose bricks in the hearth, she |
commenced digging in the earth, and in
a-few momento oho was rewarded by
finding <n very much decayed wooden
box. On taking it up she found that it
contained a, quantity of paper money,
supposed to be sdme of the old "Conti?
nental'1 currency, A gold watch, the
works of which had been entirely de
Buoyed iby rust; and a number of gold
and. si Iyer coins of English and Spanish
money. The paper was almost destroy?
ed; the writing and printing beiug ille?
gible; but the coins were in an excellent
state of preservation. This is given to
na as a.fact, and, if true, is one of the
moat singular events of which we have
ever written. We leave to spiritualists
and believers in supernatural agencies to
acive the connection between the dreams
and the finding of the treasure. As
there can be no living claimant for the
Watch and money, the latter of whioh is
said to be wort h several hundred dollars,
the old woman will remain as the legateo
of, the one who earthed his treasnre.
A despatch from San Francisco, De?
cember 24, says: A number of invalids
from the East have arrived here, seeking
restoration of health, considering the
climate of the Southern countries more
equable than that of Florida. Oranges,
lemons, grapes, strawberries, tomatoes,
sew potatoes of nil varieties, a second
orop of garden vegetables and flowers
are abundant in the market.
At Potosi, Mo., on the 22d, John
Armstrong and Charles Jolly were con?
victed of the murder of the Lapiue
family, and sentenoed to be hanged on
January 7th. Tho orime was committed
about a month ago, five persons being
the victims.

TUE GRAND DRAWING YESTERDAY.-The
grand single number distribution of the North
Carolina Beneficial Association, which took
placo at the Theatre yesterday, at 1 o'clock,
wus the all-absorbing theme during the day.
The drawing took place in publio, a commit?
tee having been selected from the audit nco
to act with the Commissioner in keeping au
account of the samo, and to see that it was
conducted fairly. Quite a respectable crowd
was present to witnesB the drawing. The fol?
lowing numbers drew the principal praxes:
