Our State Government, according to the Republican press of the Stato, is very corrupt. 2. Tho platform of tho Union Reform pnrty is not political, but moral. Ig? noring all political issues, it seeks only to reform the morals of tho State Go? vernment. 3. In rnllying with tho honest and good men of tho State, I hold my politi? cal opinions- in abeyance, with no sacri? fice of principle. .1. There are but two parties in tho State. Not to vote at all will bo to givo countenance to the prevailing corrup? tions of the dominant party. 5. Judge Carpenter stood, not only uncensured by the Republican party, but was its pride and boast, np to tho timo of bis joining the Union Reform party, and has certainly done nothing worthy of ciiuouiu since. 6. Judge Carpenter is undoubtedly a man of intellectual ability, and if elected, will bo assooiated with gentlemen whose moral purity will be a sufficient guaran? tee of his moral uprightness. 7. The colored and white people of the State are too far separated. Their mutual interests require that they should imito and form ono pnrty, and this is what the Union R form party proposes. The Empress Eugenio has written a letter to Napoleou, which goes to show that the reports in circulation to the effect that she had been snubbed and avoided since her arrival in England are untrue, but on tho contrary, she has been the recipient of many expressions of kindness and sympathy from the royal family and tho nobility, but that she prefers comparative isolation for tho present. In this connection it is stated that there is a strong feeling in diplo? matic circles, "encouraged by the Ameri? can minister," in favor of tho downfall of the republic and the restoration of the ! empire.
