the intention of tho enemy. Tho follow?
ing is the declaration of the euemy:
"Prussia wishes to coutinuo tho war, in
order to reduco France to a second rate
power. Prussia demands Alsace and
Lorraine ns far as the Mouso, by right of
conquest. Prussia, before consenting to
an armistice, demands tho rendition of
Strasburg, Toul and Moutvalorion." Pa?
ris is exasperated, and will rather bury
herself beneath her ruins. To such in?
solent pretensions, we eau only respond
by resistance to tho last extremity.
Franco accepts tho struggle, and counts
