[A'trio Orleans Sunday limes. MINORITY REPBESENTATION.-A con? vention of prominent Pennsylvanians, favorable to minority representation in the State Legislature, met at Heading, on Wednesday. Nineteen Counties were represented by sixty-ono delegates. It was organized by tho election of Hon. Qeorgo Lear, of Bucks, as President. Resolutions were adopted, recommend? ing the adoption of tho principle of minority representation and its embodi? ment in the new State Constitution, also providing for tho appointment of com? mittees to promote the object. Among the speakers, was ex-Senator Buckalow, who was present by invitation. Children must take good care of their German toys. No importations of them can now be made, except by a ron nd a bont and expensive way, and noue can be while the war lasts. But, even if tho ?jorts were open, there are no workmen eft in Germany to make toys, all being engaged in soldiering. It must be some months after the war ends before trade wilt return to its ordinary channels. So no new toys from faderland need be ex? pected this year to gladden little eyes and supply little hands. Tho most terrible murder that ever shooked the community of Newburg, New York, was committed in their midst, at 7 o'clock, on Tuesday evening. ML. Tohn L. Y., quit* recently, to adopt a life of shame, because her habits were of so costly a native that she was afraid of being a burden to him any longer. She was followed, overtaken, and placed under tba care of a religious society. The extravagance of dress en? couraged by the wealthy classes is but too often the cause of working the ruin of young girl? of humble means. A young man *t Albany went to a house of ill-repute, a few days siuce, to try and reclaim his sister, who has re? sided there for some time, but instead of approaching his kindness, she called several bloodthirsty ruffians about her and had him beaten so cruelly that he was obliged to be removed on a stretcher. Mrs. Elliott, of Thomaston, Maine, a widow lady in a depressed state of mind, jumped off the wharf a few nights since, on suicidal thoughts intent, but neglect? ing to look in the alumnae to seo about the tide, landed in the mnd, and was quickly willing to ory for help. Mosquitoes, whioh until recently have been almost unknown in England, have made their appearance in some localities there of late, muoh to the annoyanco of the inhabitants, who at first mistook their sonorous sounds for music. There is a strange 6tory afloat that Dr. Livingston has been compelled to marry a native princess in tho interior of South Africa, and is either ashamed to return home, or is not allowed by his father-in law to leave.
