It is stated that Meiss, who succeeded Parodol in tho chair of Liternturo of Ais, and who founded the Journal ile Paris, will be appointed Minister to Washington. PABIS, August 2G.-Several hundred arrests wore mado to-day, among Hiern a number of Btraugo womeu, with money for which they oould not account satis? factorily. They aro said to be spies paid to create troublo along Farbourg Mon matre and adjoining streots. Total ar? rests under Trochu's order expelling dangerous persou amount to 2,000. The Poris Public says important in? formation was received to-day by tho Government concerning the position, numbers nud movements of the enemy. Tho corps of Frederick Charles and a portion of the King's army aro undoubt? edly marobing on Paris, while Steinmetz is left to hold Bazaine. The enemy may reach Paris within six days, should there bo no change in their plans. Tho Senate and corps were to be notified of these facts to-day.
