Tho people that for? merly stood by Judge Orr, stand by him no longer. His political iufluenco in tho up-country is gone. The Reform canvass continues to bo actively prosecuted. Since the meeting hero, largo gatherings have been ad? dressed nt Winusboiro, Chester, Mount Carmel, Yorkville, Rook Hill-and tho other op point men ts, os laid down, are promptly met aa they roll rouud. Tho Reform candidates and other speakers are doing their duty, aud their whole duty. We observo that our friond Col. McKis sick is in the field, os the Uuion Reform candidate for Congress in tho Fourth Congressional District. Col. McKissick is a genuine Carolinian and a man of fine judgment and earnest character. He will, we hope and believe, be triumph? antly elected. RAIMIOAD ACCIDENT.-A diabolical attempt at wholesale murder was made ou last Tuesday night, near Lano's Turn? out, on tho North-eastern Railroad. Some fiend, worthy of being made a Scott constable, placed two heavy bai's of iron across tho track when the up passenger train was coming. Tho night being very dark, they escaped tho notice of the engineer, and tho cngino, "Daniel Ravenel," one of the finest passenger locomotivos in tho State, was thrown from the track and badly injured. Two cars were also smashed; yet, wonderful to relato, no ono was hurt. Tho perpe? trator has not yet been caught, but search is being made for a party who aro suspected. - Charleston News. TUE RADICAL MOB.-On Tuesday night last, a crowd of sumo thirty or forty radi? cals, (colored,) mobbed aud beat un old colorod man, who at the last election voted tho Democratic ticket. With no officials in this community, except Scott's Magistrates and Constabulary, there is no protection against the mob. God gives to all menthe right of self defence. It is the part of manhood and wisdom that our people should be well prepared to protect themselves, their families and their firesides. The radical minions of Scott have instructed the radicals to maltreat all their color, who choose to think for themselves. [Laurcnsville Herald. Ou? Cituus.-Cotton aud corn iu this County aro looking ns well as those crops have for many years. Wo have exa? mined a number of cotton fields, and are pleased to notice that, generally, the cottou stalks have a larger numbor of sound bolls thau we ever saw in this State. Wo, however, regret to state that tho caterpillar has made its appearance, and much apprehension is felt about it. At present, no mischief has been done by thoso marauders, but tho fact thut they have perceptibly increased iu num? bers during the past week, give ground for alarm. So far as we have heard, they have not mado their appearance on more thau two plantations. - Union Times. TnE GUNS HAVE COME.-Six boxes of guns and two of accoutrements, for the "loil" militia, arrived at our depot last Saturday, aud five boxes of guns were left at Fish Dam ou tho same day. Whether they aro the Winchester rides or not, wo cannot say, but presume they aro only tho old style muskets, that kill from the muzzle and at the stock when they aro fired, as the boxes uro marked "repaired in 18(58." We hope Captain Heed will have more seuso and decency than his whiter-skin? ned neighbor, Crews, and keep his com? mand under better discipline. [Union Times. Instructions from Scute Executive Com? mittee. The Executive Committee of the Union Reform party beg leave to report tho following plan of organization for each County, and urge its immediate adoption. You aro charged with nam? ing tho central executivo committee re? siding at tho Court House, and wo sug? gest that you name sorao of either color, if practical, and not let your committee bc too large: 1. This committee must immediately appoint a sub-comuiitteo for each town? ship, beat, or some other practicable di? vision. 2. Each sub-committee should pro? ceed at once to organize its section into stubs or societies. ' 3. Each club or society should appoint an active, intelligent man to mako a list of every voter iu his township or section, with bis political proclivities opposite his name, 4. These lists should bo forwarded to the central committee at thc Court House, and consolidated, each club keeping a copy. 5. Every man favorablo to the reform movemeut should bo assigned tho duty of influencing one or more votes, and take charge of them on the day of elec? tion, nud see that '.hey reach tho polls, or remain away if unfavorable; and when the voters have no transportation, see that it is provided. On the day of election, two or three ilisercot and intelligent men should be assigned by the central executive com? mittee: to go to each election precinct, with a list of the voters alphabetically made out. and keep au account of the voters and challenge illegal voters. AHMED BANDS.-On last Saturday, a largo body of armed negro militia from this point, Clinton and Martin's depot, marched through the country to Jack's old field, a rendezvous of a local militia company. The pretext of this long march wa?, that the whito mon would on that day drive the local militia from its muster-ground. Joe Crews aud a number of the Scott Constabulary, led the company from this quarter. About 1,000 armed men wero inarching on Friday night and Sat nrday, to this point. Old citizens, sixty and seventy years old, woro cursed and insulted by tho militia as they passed their residences. In ono case a lady was cur?sed aud told that her husband should be shot. These marchings and countor-march iugs of armed men through tho country will lead to bad results. If tho negroes want to muster, let thom drill at their own muster-ground, and then disperse. Colored men should huvo better sense than to bo amused aud fooled by their miserable white leaders, who will event? ually bring trouble ou tho country. [ La uren sville lien dd.
