Blanks are to be left at each house during the last week of March next, to be nilled up "with particulars of the name, sex, rank, profession or occupa? tion, condition, relation to the head of the family, and birth-place of every persou who abode in the house on the night of Sunday, the Isfc of April, 1871." The blanks will bo collected during tho en? suing week, and they will give accurate returns of the population on that night. Under the plan now being followed in taking the census of this country, thc enumerators are several weeks in going through their respective Districts, dur? ing which time many chnngeB may occur from births, deaths or removals. An attempt was made in Congress to intro? duce the "photographia" system, but it was defeated. The "patronage" inci? dent on the appointment of a large number of enumerators for a single week would not have been desirable. Macgregor, who navigated tho waters in the Holy Land in his canoe, gives a passing notice of the expedition with which Americans "do their sight-seeing." One evening, he met An American at his ter e, near the Jordan, the next morning he was gone. They aro "so uncommon quick." Macgregor gives tho following dialogue between two American tourists at a hotel: "Ben to Jurden, sir?" "Yes, sir; come back 4.35 this after? noon." "Road-how's that?" "Wal, sir, its rough-that's so.
