Louis Napoleon has now ruled Franco for twenty-two years. Of his immediate predecessors. Louis Phillipe reigned eighteen years, Oharies X six years, Louis XVIII nine years, Napoleon I fifteen years, and Louis XVI eighteen years. An old man, broken in beal tb, with all bis ambitions gratified save th nt in wbiob is built the hopes of his suc? cessor, we do not look to Napoleon III for any tame Submission to the storm bursting both in front nud rear. He, no doubt, fully realizes the present as the crisis of his fate, and will, in all hu? man probability, end. his reign and days in the present campaign. BLESSINGS IN DISGUISE.-Washington City has over 75,000 negroes who, be? lieving that oity to be the colored Eldo? rado, flocked in from the neighboring States. The great majority are living from band to mouth, a burden upon the people and a nuisance. Maryland and Virginia are suffering for help, but any attempt to send off the negroes where they can be made serviceable and self-supporting is opposed by tho Radi cals, who want them where they aro to vote. As they cannot be used before next snmmer for political purposes, we think they might at least have leave of absence until that time. The movement made by women to crowd men out of the professions has borne its fruits already. A man milli? ner, said to be a pupil of the celebrated Worth, in Paris, has opened au establish? ment in New York which has at once taken the lead of uppor-teudom. There is said to be a certain style and perfec? tion of taste about his inspirations in? accessible to the female architect, and, as usual, he obtains twice the price for his labor. If anything is capable of. goading the woman's righters to mad? ness aud revolution it will be the inva? sion of their sphere. A policeman, at Jacksonville, 111., beard that a common ordinary citizen was sparking with his Intended, so ho arrested him for burglaring, and shot bim because- he resisted. A funeral, a wedding, and probably a hanging, will result. AN OLD COIN.-An old Spanish coin has been found near Charlotte, North Carolina, which bears dato of 1263. It looks as though it had been hammered ont and stamped. There is an old bean at Saratoga who has been there regularly every season for thirty years, and who is known as "the Count." ? Toledo burglar was so shocked by being thrown out of a garret window by a plucky servant girl, that he will never roo any more. Fine-Bud Cordial. Manufactured by II. BARRY & CO., COLUMBIA, 8. C.
