WHAT WE ARE COMING TO.-If the
Sumner Radicals havo their own way,
and get the ballot iuto the hnuds of seve?
ral millions of coolies, what a curious
chango will be made in the manners nud
customs of the inhabitants of Massachu?
setts? The great wooly-headed, thick
lipped ebony idol will be torn dowu,
and the almond-eyed, pig-tailed sufTron
idol will be put np iu its place. The
banjo will bo banished from among tor?
turers of the ear, and the Oriental tom?
tom substituted. "Breakowus" aud
"walk-arouuds" will no longer becouutcd
among fashionable dunces, while tho
"Pekin waddle" will grow into favor
with tho females. Boston Common will
be given over to Joss houses, and Fan
euil Hall will be dedicated to the wor?
ship of tho saintly Yuug Fi of the Third
Dynasty. Butler will abandon tho melo?
dic "Shoo-Fly," and take to chanting
tho sacred proverbs of Confucius; und
the portly Sumner, arrayed in tho robes
of a High Mandarin, will stump his
native State in favor of the Chinese food
reform-rat and rice. In short, the
Asiatic will be all tho rage-just as the
African has beeu for a decade past. An
ambitious politioiuu, depeuding upon
Chinese votes for election to office, will
have to humor Chinese whims and preju?
dices; and for that reason we expect,
with the advent of coolie suffrage, that
the radical party will emblazon on their
yellow banners tho annexation of those
inferior United States to tho dominions
of the brother of the sun, the uncle of
the moon, and the first cousin of the
