aotion of the Governor, in ordering the
organization of a standing army, to he
composed entirely of his political friends,
is deplored hy all the best men in tho

vernor entirely unnecessary, and likely
to lead to the most serious results, if not
speedily abandoned. In all conservative
meetings being hold over the State, every
species of outrage, and all secret organi?

Tho long bridge, between Oakland aud
Goat Island, would materially interfero
with commerce, and it was tho duty of
Congress, to San Francisco and to the
nation, to seo that the navigatiou of tho
bay was not ignored. The bill was de

The bill appropriating 93,000 to Mrs.
Lincoln, went over. The post office ap?
