now ou their way to Havana tinder strong
guard. Their arrival is hourly expected.
Immediately on their arrival a court
martial will be summoned and the pri?
soners placed on trial. An American or
English colonel, who lied to Gunjaba
with Goicouria, died on the island, of
starvation. It is supposed that Ergan
and three pilots succeeded iu making
their escape from the island.

the plebiscite vote. The Emperor will

of iron masters, held here yesterday, the
unanimous feeling was to stop tho pro?
duction of pig iron, which cannot be
made at current rates without loss,
and the probability is that in the next
sixty days neurly, if not all, the furnaces
in this vicinity will bo idle.
SAN FRANCISCO, May 14.-The steamer
Japan, from Hong Kong, briugs 1,400
passengers, 1,300 of whom are Chinese.
Sixteen of tho Japan's passengers are for
New York, and thirty-six for Europe.
