LONDON, May 7.-Tn the House of
Gommons, last evening, the Irish land
bill was discussed in committee. Many
amendments were introduced, debated
and rejected. Palmer's amendment, re?
stricting the application of the improve?
ment clause to tenantcies created nnder
this bill, provoked an unusually long and
interesting discussion; nt length, on a
division, the amendment was rejected by
59 majority.
The Prussian Consul at Rome, Herr
De Arnheim, has delivered a despatch to
Cardinal Antonelli, strongly backing tbe
remonstrance of Napoleon.
VIENNA, May 7.-A commercial treaty
with Guatemala has been ratified and
signed by tho Austrian Government.
Herr Petrino has exchanged places with
Herr Wiodinam in the Cabinet. The
former takes the portfolio of national
defences, the latter that of agriculture.

sonic Hall, for the purpose of effecting a
basis of agreement on which to act in
nominating candidates for the coming
campaign. Thomas A. Ledwith was
chosen Chairman. A committee of five
from eaoh organization was appointed, to
agree upon a County ticket. It was further
resolved, that the combined organization
should support no Tammany nominee.
The Committee of Twenty will meet on
Monday afternoon, to nominate.
The United States Government bas
purchased General Halstead's torpedo
boat, built during the war at Mystic,
Conn., and lately lying at Newark, N. J.
The original coRt was ?100,000. Its
weight is twenty-fivo tons. Ten men are
Bufiicient to man it.
